Remarkably, Joe Rogan, the comedian, MMA commentator and podcaster, may have become the world’s highest-paid broadcaster this week. And, a world-record deal with Spotify, may forge a new era for podcasting in the process.
Spotify announced plans to invest up to 500 million on podcasting: centred on exclusive content, improving discovery, and an innovative perspective on the future of podcasts. Competitors seem miles behind, so it makes us want to know more about the brains behind the project?
The impetus comes from the complex mind of Daniel Ek, a driving force for Spotify since he cofounded it in 2006. This week we take a look at Ek’s top quotes on success and innovation:
“Put your consumers in focus, and listen to what they're actually saying, not what they tell you.”
“I'm not an inventor. I just want to make things better.” “I'm just interested in building a company that doesn't necessarily change lives but adapts people's behaviour.”
“Buying sports cars, going to expensive nightclubs, spraying people with champagne and things like that - what I learnt is that it wasn't for me, and, in fact, I feel pretty empty after doing that.”
“We really do believe that we can improve the world, one song at a time.”
